Warehouse Management System Modernization – Case Study

Overview
Discover how Aqlix support a US logistics company in modernizing their Warehouse Management System (WMS), migrating to the cloud, and ensuring top-notch quality assurance.
Previous Situation
The Logistics company began collaborating with Aqlix in 2020. This logistics company aimed to build a team responsible for modernizing their Warehouse Management System. The existing system, based on legacy technology, required an upgrade to support the organization’s growth. Each warehouse was treated as a separate entity, despite centralized data on a local server.
These issues negatively impacted daily operations and customer experience. The Logistics company needed a team that could manage the project’s architecture, development, and quality assurance. This team had to be self-sufficient, take ownership, and integrate seamlessly with the client’s organization.
Growth Plans
To prepare for future growth, The Logistics company needed to embrace the cloud and upgrade their WMS. The majority of their system was developed in an older version of .NET, necessitating modernization. Upgrading to a newer version would allow the company to leverage technologies like containerization, Docker, and Kubernetes in their cloud migration.
The company sought a partner who would be deeply involved in the project, not only providing developers but also analyzing and rebuilding the system’s architecture while acting as a true partner.
Successful Approach
To help a logistics company modernize their Warehouse Management System (WMS), Aqlix started by understanding their current issues and future goals. We reviewed their existing system to find pain points and identified what they would need as they grow.
Working closely with the client, we moved their WMS to the cloud and used modern tools like Docker and Kubernetes to make the system more scalable and flexible.
Aqlix put together a dedicated team to handle not just the development, but also system design and quality checks. Our team worked as one with the client, ensuring everything stayed on track and aligned with their goals.
Thanks to ongoing communication, quick problem-solving, and a focus on quality, Aqlix delivered a reliable, future-ready solution that helped the logistics company improve operations and grow smoothly.
Results
Over the next few months, we set up the foundation and laid the groundwork for the architecture, testing, development, and everything in between. Thanks to the team’s dedication, we expanded our work to include iOS development and upgraded the WMS. Today, we are responsible for the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
The team implemented processes and procedures, successfully identified issues, and ensured they wouldn’t recur. Their understanding of the business and commendable work ethic completely transformed operations. Although, the project started with just 4 people, but the Logistics company received the same attention as our Tier 1 clients. Currently, multiple teams are working on their projects. The client fully appreciates the advantages of a global workforce and plans to leverage this model in the coming years.
